Cross-Country World Cup to Continue Alternating in Goms and Engadin

The world's best cross-country skiers will continue to compete for World Cup points in Goms and Engadin in the years to come. Swiss-Ski has signed a corresponding organizer agreement with the local organizing committees.

In January 2024, the Cross-Country World Cup returned to Goms for the first time after a 24-year hiatus. A year later, five World Cup competitions were held over three days in Upper Engadin, in Silvaplana-Surlej. Swiss-Ski has agreed with both organizers to maintain this cycle in the coming years, subject to the approval of the relevant FIS committees. Both Goms and Engadin are scheduled to host three World Cups each, through the 2030/31 season, ideally at the end of January.

"Both Goms and Engadin are exceptionally traditional cross-country destinations, characterized by high snow reliability. We are already looking forward to more atmospheric cross-country competitions amidst magnificent snowy mountain landscapes," said Jürg Capol, Nordic Ski Director at Swiss-Ski.

In the upcoming 2025/26 season, the last World Cup competitions before the Olympic Games in Northern Italy will take place in Goms. This is evident from the calendar, which still requires final approval by the FIS Council in mid-June. From January 23 to 25, 2026, the Nordic Center in Ulrichen will host a skating team sprint, an individual sprint in classic technique, and a 20 km classic mass start race for both genders.

The newly formed organizing committee in Goms, led by President Urs Schirmer and Sports Competition Director Markus Segessenmann, brings innovative ideas while also relying on proven methods. For the World Cup at the end of January 2026, the existing infrastructure will be used even more optimally. For instance, the large tent will be eliminated, and the catering offerings will be integrated into the expanded Nordic Center. Approximately 250 volunteers will once again be mobilized for a successful event.

The infrastructure of the Nordic Center will allow spectators to overlook large sections of the course and experience the competitions up close.
